Big crowds, big stages, big names. The kingpin of electronic dance music events, Godskitchen, returns to South Africa for shows in Johannesburg and Cape Town featuring DJ heavy-weights Dash Berlin, Jerome Isma-ae, Protoculture and Dean FUEL.
Godskitchen, a UK club brand, has been hosting premier parties since the electronic music boom in the nineties. The promoters, trying to decide on a name for their new house night, concluded that the kitchen is the hotspot of all the best ‘house’ parties—and that God’s kitchen then surely must have the absolute best parties.
From kitchen to kingdom – Godskitchen has since dominated the dance scene worldwide by hosting mammoth events in the USA, South America, Canada, Asia, Australia, Europe, and of course, South Africa. Now the global music brand famed for its spectacular LED displays is back—bringing a visual and aural feast to our shores this October.
The South African tour kicks off in Cape Town on 26 October at The Green Point Stadium. The masterminds behind the last tour’s impressive stage set (The Godskitchen Boombox) have something else in mind for the Green Point Stadium—a unique stage specially designed and created to fit the venue, a one-of-a-kind lighting and production spectacle.
Johannesburg gets cooking on 27 October at the Nasrec Expo Center, where the Godskitchen Fusion Cube takes centre stage. International production gurus 250K have developed an audio visual spectacle comprised of an outer cube shaped structure made from over 130 lighting fixtures, over 460m of LED strips, and upwards of 150m2 LED screens. This is coupled with state-of-the-art visuals with a myriad of special effects.
The DJ booth is within yet another cube, creating a ‘truly immersive performance environment’. Set to rock the cube are headliners Dash Berlin, and Jerome Isma-ae.
Hailing from the Netherlands, Dash Berlin was inspired by the melodic, synthesized house music vinyls he collected while growing up. He pursued his passion by preforming wherever he could, from nine-hour long gigs in shopping malls to the notorious illegal Dutch warehouse parties. These days he’s known for his ‘Dash Berlin Sound’, music that’s ‘futuristic, scintillating, but above all, moving and emotive. Music that relates to the universal dance floor experience’.
German DJ/producer, Jerome Isma-Ae slays the dance floor with his unique brand of progressive house. He’s no newbie; this giant of the scene has been making music for over 15 years, and before the EDM bug got a hold of him he was a classically trained musician in a band.
Jerome Isma-Ae has this to say about his particular brand of music: “Hotter than a porn star, stronger than a Lamborghini! My sound has been going through some changes in the last couple of years, but I've always kept my signature in productions and remixes, so everyone can hear right away where it's from.”
Supported by local superstars Protoculture and Dean FUEL, Godskitchen South Africa 2012 is set to be a show-stopping event.
